Free Kindle eBooks: Crossfire, The Messenger & More

CrossFire

Sara Conner’s Prince Charming, Nicolas Cortez, rescues her from a mugging and proceeds to sweep her off her feet in a whirlwind courtship and marriage. Then he takes her with him to Bolivia, where he puts his business degree to use in the family business. Sara had no idea the Cortezes were filthy rich until they arrive at the family compound. And she has no idea exactly how filthy the Cortez money really is. Sara’s na?vete is stripped away as she realizes the family’s connection to cocaine smuggling, and she learns that she is disposable if she gets too nosy. In her struggle to reconcile a loving husband with the horrors of his actions, she turns to God for spiritual answers and to a DEA agent to save her life.

The Messenger

Hannah Sunderland felt content in her embrace of the Quaker faith… until her twin brother ran off and joined the army and ended up captured and in jail. Suddenly Hannah’s world turns on end. She longs to bring her brother some measure of comfort in the squalid, frigid prison where he remains. But the Quakers believe they are not to take sides, not to take up arms. Can she sit by and do nothing while he suffers?

Jeremiah Jones has an enormous task before him. Responsibility for a spy ring is now his, and he desperately needs access to the men in prison, whom they are seeking to free. A possible solution is to garner a pass for Hannah. But while she is fine to the eye, she holds only disdain for him–and agreeing would mean disobeying those she loves and abandoning a bedrock of her faith.

The Search Committee

They started out seeking a pastor. But what they found was each other. When a small-town southern church throws a hodgepodge of wildly different personalities together in a van and sends them out to look for a new pastor, the dust gets kicked up in more ways than one. There’s Travis, a young husband whose ambiguity about becoming a father is threatening his marriage. Dot, a middle-aged busybody whose strong opinions set everyone’s teeth on edge. Susie, an attractive single mom coping with a troubled teenage son. Bill, an older man who centers his entire life on caring for his fragile wife. Joyce, a transplanted Yankee who feels like an outsider. Matt, highly educated but socially awkward. And Frankie, who just tries to keep the peace. Jostling along bumpy back roads, they squabble about practically everything, from which pastoral candidates show promise to where to stop for lunch. But gradually the facades fall away, revealing seven lonely souls drawn together in a search for healing and grace.

Free Kindle eBooks: Prize of My Heart & The Touch of Sage

Prize of My Heart

An unsolved mystery separates ex-privateersman Captain Brogan Talvis from his lost son–his only living relation, his only family. Shortly before her tragic demise, his wife abandoned their infant to strangers, refusing to reveal the child’s whereabouts. Now, three years later, Brogan has discovered the boy at the home of a shipbuilder’s daughter, Lorena Huntley.

Lorena guards a dark secret about her young charge. She finds herself falling for the heroic captain who has come to claim his newly built ship, unaware his motive for wooing her is to befriend the boy he plans on reclaiming as his own–until the day another’s evil deceit leaves her helplessly shipbound, heading toward England.

As the perfect opportunity to reclaim his son unfolds, Brogan is haunted by thoughts of Lorena in her dire circumstance, and he is forced to make a heartrending choice between his child and the woman who has begun to capture his heart. But only his unselfish sacrifice can win him the greatest prize of all–love.

The Touch of Sage

Following the death of her parents, Sage Willows had lovingly nurtured her younger sisters through childhood. She loved her sisters. She’d seen each one married, and was glad to see them settled and happy. Furthermore, she held no resentment at never having found a good man of her own to settle down with. Yet, regret is different than resentment—and far more haunting.
Still, Sage found as much joy as was allowed a lonely young woman—in being proprietress of Willows’ Boardinghouse, and in the companionship of the four beloved widow-women boarding there. Until, that is, the devilishly handsome Rebel Lee Mitchell appeared. It seemed Reb Mitchel instantly and forever vanquished Sage’s feigned contentment.

Dark, mysterious and secretly wounded, Reb Mitchell utterly captured Sage’s lonely heart. Nevertheless, to Sage Williows, the powerfully attractive cowboy—admired and coveted by every female in his path—seemed entirely unobtainable. How could a weathered, boardinghouse-proprietress resigned to spinsterhood, ever hope to hold the attention of such a man? And knowing she couldn’t—would Sage Willows simply sink deeper into the bleak loneliness she’d secreted for so long?

Free Kindle Books: Rally ‘Round Green & The Lord is My Shepherd

I absolutely LOVE it when Amazon releases books from a series as free. I’ve been reading The Green Series where bigger-city newspaper editor Lois moves to a small town in Louisiana to run the local newspaper, and they are great reads! I was hoping the next book would be available for free, and today it is!

Rally ‘Round Green (The Green Series)

Green survived a tornado, but now the town faces a new storm—one that threatens the schools! As Green continues to recover from a horrendous tornado, newlyweds Lois and Chris just want to return to a normal life in their home on Route Two. But even more threats to Green loom on the horizon. The state of Louisiana announces plans to close Green’s schools, which will put Chris out of work and end a long-standing tradition of community pride. Lois and Chris know the loss will crush the community and harm students forced to travel more than an hour to classes. Then there’s that new highway that’s creeping even closer . . .

But Green has another tradition: Rallying around each other. Newspaper owner Lois, Mayor Eva, and college students unite to fight the bureaucrats, with some surprising—and unexpected results.

I’ve also enjoyed The Psalm 23 Mysteries series, and I’ve always wondered what happened in the first book. Well now it’s available free.

The Lord is My Shepherd (Psalm 23 Mysteries)

Church secretary Cindy Preston stumbles over a dead body at First Shepherd Presbyterian; racing almost immediately to her aid is Jeremiah Silverman, rabbi of the neighboring synagogue, who can bust some pretty good moves from having spent his youth in Israel. It’s clear soon enough that the events of Christian Holy Week, which coincide with the celebration of Passover for Silverman and his congregants, have special significance for the killer, and Cindy, Jeremiah, and Det. Mark Walters work to solve the mystery while the killer continues.
